At iM3, we understand that burs can be a confusing and daunting topic for a busy veterinary practice. Our mission is to
make selecting burs simple and easy for everyone – whether you're starting out at veterinary dentistry or you're one of
the top specialists in the field, we've got you covered.
Over the following pages you will find iM3's Essential Burs. These are the burs that every practice should be using and will
allow you to perform routine extractions.
Later in this section we'll show you our complete range of dental burs for the more advanced veterinary dentists.
All iM3 Burs are high-quality, European-made designed for precision and reliability. Each bur undergoes a rigorous,
standardized cleaning process to ensure optimal hygiene and performance: first polished in a rotary bur polisher to
remove residual particles and restore surface shine; then placed in an ultrasonic cleaning unit to eliminate any remaining
debris; thoroughly rinsed with hot water over a designated wastewater sink; the cleaning solution is filtered to remove
contaminants; and finally, the burs are carefully dried in an oven at 80 °C (176 °F) to ensure complete moisture removal.
This multi-step procedure guarantees that every iM3 Bur is clean, polished, and ready for safe and effective use.

Always remember that dental burs should be sharp; let the instrument do the work. If we feel like we need to work harder
or press harder, then the instrument is dull and should be replaced. Burs should be considered single-use, and their cost
should be factored into your procedures. Reusing burs stresses and damages the handpiece or turbine, potentially harms
the animal/patient, and could injure or fatigue the user.
Tips & Techniques
•
Do not use much pressure or force when using the High-Speed Handpiece. Use a light painting or feathering
technique when sectioning teeth and gentle gliding when removing bone.
•
Improper technique can cause the bur to break and damage the turbine.
•
Make sure the bur in seated all the way into the High Speed Handpiece.
